Description

Scarce Movado 14k Equestrian Motif Bracelet Watch

Post WWII brought a boom to saddle horse ownership, as well as every category of horse related activity. The old joke of giving a child a pony for their birthday became a reality. There was plenty of related costume jewelry items, but some companies geared for more demanding customers. This watch, more jewelry than watch, was not a commercial success for Movado. Most likely only a few hundred examples were made to test the market. A production gold cased watch was used without lugs and the other pieces carefully crafted, assembled from multiple pieces. The cinch strap even has hand line engraving to simulate leather. A crystal reverse intaglio horse head profile, wearing bridle and reins, is bezel set into the french horn. Snaffle bit and horseshoe are combined to create a design element. A stirrup shaped catch, is part of the locking clasp. Radial brushed dial with gold stick type markers for all chapters and gold pencil type minute/hour hands. 17 jewel nickel movement. Case and movement marked Movado. Gross weight 22.7 grams. Presentation on reverse of watch dated 1966. will fit 7" wrist 17mm widest element
