Signature - Accessories - Unsigned Pocket watch, oversize, quarter-repeater with Jacks, Grande et Petite Sonnerie, probably made for the Indian market; yellow gold (18-carat) -- Yellow gold (18-carat), open-face, keyless-winding, round-shaped, oversize pocket watch, with subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and four horological complications: · Quarter-repeater by two hammers on two steel gongs (rings on demand, ‘repeating at will’, hours and quarters elapsed; activated by the slide located on the case-band at 5 o’clock) leading the two striking Jacquemarts (jacks) visible on the dial · Grande Sonnerie et Petite Sonnerie (rings automatically ‘self-chiming’ when the hours pass, indicating the elapsed hours, and when the quarters pass, indicating the elapsed hours and quarters; a ‘silence’ position allows this automatic chime to be switched off) · Two barrels with differential gears and bidirectional-winding inspired by Louis-Elisée Piguet’s (1836-1924) works (according to the patent which will be granted in 1895) Probably made for the Indian market. -- Case: No. 2 196, four-piece, ‘Bassine et filets’, polished, gold and glass cuvette (dome) allowing to see the movement; round-shaped clipped bow. Dial: cream colour, enamel, mounted on a gold screwed frame, with black painted radiating Roman numerals inside gold painted cartouches; external minute track divided five by five with ‘perlé’ gold painted dots; blued steel ‘Poire’ leaf-shaped hands. Applied on the gold guilloché (engine-turned) fausse-plaque (false plate), two polychrome painted on enamel Jacquemarts (Jacks) figures in fanciful Swiss Guard dress striking the elapsed time. Movement: No. 2 196, calibre 26’’’, manual-winding, probably 35 jewels, nickel-plated, going barrels, double-train of wheels, gold screwed-chatons (setting), straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensated balance, blued steel hairspring with terminal curve, polished steel index-regulator; repeater work on the main plate, under the dial, screwed-chaton (setting) on the repeater train. Type of winding and time setting: winding by the crown on the pendant and time-setting by a push-pin (à poussette) located on the case-band at 11 o’clock.
