Pocket watch - souvenir of the 1905 Gordon Bennett Cup. Pocket watch in silver metal with double-bottom case - DUC Chronometer Blued Breguet-type hands, Roman numeral indexes, second hand at six o'clock. On the back, the driver Théry and his mechanic at the wheel of his Brasier in the Rochefort bend - Gordon Bennett 1905 Edition FRAINIER-Registered Model. Diameter: 50mm. In a case. Notes: The engraving on the back of the watch is taken from the photograph on the cover of the magazine "La vie au Grand Air" N. 347, dated May 5, 1905. The cover of the magazine praises the 1905 edition of this competition by taking a photo of THERY during the elimination series in the Rochefort bend. In 1905, the last of the six Gordon Bennett Cup races took place in France on July 5, on a 137 km mountain circuit in Auvergne, near the city of Clermont-Ferrand. Frenchman Leon Théry, in a 96 hp Richard-Brasier, won for the second year in a row, repeating his feat! Bibliography: D.
