GAUDRON, OIGNON ALARM Gavdron a Paris. Made circa 1710. Very fine and very rare, Louis XIV, silver oignon watch with single hand and alarm., CHF 3,500 - 4,500 USD 3,800 - 5,000 / EUR 2,800 - 3,700 C. Two-body, ?oignon?, the polished back decorated with pierced foliate sound frets, the bezel decorated with pierced frets to match. D. Silver with radial blue Roman numerals on white enamel cartouches, inner alarm setting ring, the setting hand mounted with the hour hand. Blued steel baluster hand for the hours and tulip hand for the alarm setting. M. 46 mm, frosted gilt full plate, divided Egyptian pillars, fusee and chain, click and pawl set-up, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, pierced and chased cock decorated with symmetrical foliage and strapwork, Tompion-type regulator (incomplete), alarm train with pierced and engraved gilt standing barrel, steel train and sounding with a single hammer on a bell in the back of the case. Movement signed. Diam. 57 mm.
