The Cartier Tank Basculant e, reference 2386 , is a distinguished member of Cartier’s Tank collection, renowned for its unique reversible case mechanism. Introduced in 1933, the Basculante was designed to protect the watch’s crystal by allowing the case to flip within its frame, similar in concept to the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. Unlike the Reverso’s sliding mechanism, the Basculante employs a swinging inner frame, enabling a 360-degree rotation to safeguard the dial. Cartier, Cartier, Cartier it seems to all be about Cartier right now. The Tank Basculante! Very few make it to the market and less so in such condition as this one. A stunning unique piece from Maison Cartier made from the early 1990’s and not long after discontinued. This is a 22mm x 32mm version, stainless steel case. Fitted to a dark blue leather Cartier signed croc strap and steel buckle. Quartz battery powered movement that has had a recent battery change by a Cartier approved workshop and pressure tested to be waterproof to 50 meters (documented and still under guarantee). Classic Cartier white dial with black Roman Numeral hour markers. Blue sapphire stone to top of the case has been replaced by Cartier in December 2024. Perfect working order after recent service, strap is in excellent condition showing little wear, case has purposely been left unpolished but remains in excellent condition throughout.
