Description

Cartier Tank Louis Ref: 78087

The first Cartier Tank model was designed by Louis Cartier in 1917. In 1918, once the First World War was over, Cartier offered the first example to General Pershing, then the watch was marketed from 1919, meeting with success and being quickly marketed across the Atlantic. It is a square wristwatch, like the Cartier Santos created in 1904. Its shape, with the "stretchers" in the extension of the case, brings it closer to the appearance of an assault tank of the time, and in particular the Renault FT tank seen from above: the stretchers would represent the tracks and the dial the passenger compartment. Despite this martial inspiration, it is thin and light, and intended for both a male and female audience. Cartier Tank Louis watch reference 78087 from the 70s. Case in white gold, on leather strap and signed white gold folding clasp. Mechanical movement with manual winding. Dimensions: 20.5 x 27.8 mm (including handles). Available at 28 rue Madame Ref: ADM32142
