A good late 19th century American gilt metal keyless lever Railway Watch, The Hampden Watch Co, Canton, Ohio ‘New Railway’, movement number 2353489 The case with heavy screw-on rear cover numbered 6586797, signed white enamel dial with red five-minute numerals and heavy black Roman hours, blued steel hands (set via a lever beneath the screw-on bezel) and subsidiary seconds, the highly decorated nickel movement marked ’23 Jewels’ and Adjusted to Five Positions’, overcoiled blued steel spring with micrometer regulation, the jewels in double and triple-screwed chatons, 53mm diameter.
