Focus on the characteristics of the 417 ES watch. Regarding its design, we appreciate the vintage and period watch side. The fluted bezel remains one of the central elements of the chronograph. The timepiece features a red marker, typical of this model and serving as an extremely readable marker, adjustable thanks to the bi-directional rotation of the bezel. This edition perfectly reproduces the original design of the watch, making it even more desirable. The black dial houses two white counters, without date. The second hand is at 9 o'clock while the 30-minute counter is at 3 o'clock. The arrow-shaped hand adds charm and a sporty side to the watch that we are completely fans of. Still original, the Arabic numerals, the writing and the logo of the Swiss German manufacturer have not been touched and are directly from the brand's 1950s model. A few words about the history of the House. The story begins in 1882 in Diessenhofen, a Swiss German town located near Zurich... Johann Hanhart, the historic founder, manufactures chronographs and chronometers in his own watchmaking workshops. 20 years later, in 1902, Hanhart moved to the south of Germany in the town of Schwenningen, not far from Strasbourg. The Hanhart story had just begun. In the 1920s, Hanhart's youngest son, Wilhelm Julius, decided to join the company and already in 1924, presented the world's first mechanical stopwatch at a reasonable price: we were still in the era of hand chronographs, wristwatches were still very rare. With this reliable, readable and ultra-resistant chronograph, success was immediate! The year 1932 marked the death of the founder, Johann Hanhart. The watch brand strategically reoriented itself towards the retail trade, employing around thirty people at this time. Two years after the introduction of the first affordable chronograph, the product range was expanded to include pocket watches and the first precision wristwatches of the highest watchmaking standard: Willy Hanhart thus decided to also concentrate on the production of his own movement blanks. A second manufactory (still producing the Hanhart chronograph collection today) was founded in Gütenbach in 1934 as part of the business expansion.
