7540 Pilot Chronograph "AH-64E Apache" Top Gun IW389014 2024 Box and Papers This rather special IWC Pilot Chronograph was created for a pilot of the AH-64E Apache attack helicopter in the United Kingdom's Army Air Corps. It bears the image of the helicopter in question on the dial, as well the original owner's name on the caseback.\n\nIWC first began producing Pilot's watches in the 1930s, but they really became a major part of the brand's lineup with the Mark X, produced for the British Armed Forces during the Second World War. While IWC only produced 6,000 of these watches, it provided the foundations for the more famous Mark XI, which began production in 1949 and was sold until 1981. This classic design featured a 36mm case and military-style fixed spring bars, as well as a simple yet highly-visible black dial with white printed numerals. \n\nThe brand's Top Gun collection are tactical additions to the Pilot line, made from high-tech materials such as titanium, ceratanium and ceramic. They lean heavily into the brand's military heritage, translating this into a stealthy and under-the-radar aesthetic.
