The caliber 177 is composed of 679 individual parts, 117 jewels and features an array of complications including a multi-axis tourbillon, perpetual calendar with retrograde date and month indicator and leap year indication. In addition, its movement provides eight days of power reserve and features a "running" equation of time indication that displays the difference between solar time and mean time. Solar time is indicated by the minute hand tipped with a small sun, which sometimes runs ahead or behind the minute hand. Both hands are synchronized four times a year. - Its introduction allowed Jaeger-LeCoultre to become not just a haute horlogerie brand, but elevated the brand into a haute horlogerie movement maker. At the time of its release, there were few multi-axis tourbillon watches offered on the market. This amazing technical advancement was constructed of two carriages on two axis and different timing, with the external rotating every 60 seconds and the internal every 24 seconds, completing 2.5 turns per minute, thus allowing the correction of gravitational errors in all positions. The speed and continuous motion of the spherical tourbillon display will absolutely mesmerize and fascinate its wearer. - The present example, numbered 50 of a series of 75 timepieces, is in excellent condition and is accompanied with its certificate and presentation box.
