More commonly seen with round cases, the example offered here of Double Calendar is even more elusive due to its rectangular shape. Very well preserved with clear and deep engravings on the back, it also features inclined sides and tapered lugs. The two-tone dial has baton and Arabic numerals, with a red date indicator and a window for the day at 12 o’clock. The dial is particularly appealing, showing a characteristic patina on the outer part, often found on watches from South America, regions known for high humidity. This watch respects this characteristic, as it bears the retailer signature at 6 o’clock: Ghiso. Ghiso was a prominent jewelry salon in Buenos Aires, becoming a pre-eminent establishment of this type. At the beginning of the century, the founder's two sons traveled to Paris, where they established a branch location, later opening another in New York. Both these locations were closed sometime in the late 1930s or 1940s, but the flagship store in Buenos Aires remained open until the 1960s. Oscar Ghiso, the founder, died in Buenos Aires in 1985.
