In order to isolate the balance wheel at the top of the domed sapphire crystal, MB&F used a massive balance staff ‘splitting’ the balance wheel from the escapement wheel. Therefore, the balance is visible from the front, while mechanically, the escapement continues to operate as usual. It’s a brilliant work of engineering, and the result is magnificent. This model displays the time, date, and 72 hour power reserve on the ice blue dial. Each display is raised off the dial, which combined with the spectacle that is the floating escapement wheel, creates an insane, three-dimensional quality.
