MIDO. Radiator Watch No. 176012 circa 1930 Extremely rare gold-plated wristwatch in the shape of a car grille. Case, dial, and movement signed MIDO. Dim.: 25x37mm Asymmetrical case with hinges topped with a still blank shield On the back, inscription “MIDO. Swiss Made. Gold-plated metal. Waranted 10 years. 176012. DEPOSE.” The winding and time-setting crown is in the shape of a radiator cap. Grey dial forming a radiator grille with painted Arabic numerals, manufactured by Stern Frères in Geneva. Gold-plated Breguet-type hands. 10 1/2 ligne mechanical movement No. 6275 with 15 jewels and 3 adjustments. Original leather strap and pin buckle. Revised watch, just waiting to tell the time to its new owner Notes: In 1925 and 1926, Mido developed its famous Automobile watches. The brand filed a patent on these watch cases and certain dials inspired by the most beautiful automobile mechanics of the time: Alfa Romeo, Benz, Buick, Bugatti, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Citroën, De Dion-Bouton, Delage, Farman, Fiat, Ford, Hispano-Suiza, Lancia, Lincoln, Opel, Peugeot, Rolls-Royce, and Talbot.
