Description Up for sale is a Movado Ermetophon Alarm Slide Wind Pocket/Purse Clock c. 1950s in Alligator Case. Rectangular Brown Alligator outer case slides open, simultaneously revealing and automatically winding the timepiece concealed inside. Watch can also be wound manually via the crown at the top of the timepiece. Alarm set via the crown. Outer Alligator case dimensions are 50x38x15mm when closed, 77x38x15mm when open. Attractive electroplated yellow gold inner watch case has built in fold-out ‘kickstand’ at the back, allowing the watch to be braced upright for more convenient visibility. Watch features a 2-tone Silvered Dial with Gold baton markers. Center sweep seconds hand. Small silver hand to indicate alarm time. Dial signed Movado. Manual 17 jewel cal. 901 movement. In good vintage condition – Alarm and manual wind both in good working order. Some wear to outer Alligator case, very minor crack in crystal between 7 & 8 markers, interior case shows minor scratches and dents consistent with watch age. Inventory: 648 The Ermento was originally introduced in the 1920s and is a precursor to the travel clock. Movado’s Ermetophon, a variation of the Ermeto with a built-in alarm, was introduced before the first alarm wristwatch, the LeCoultre Memovox.
