1970's Omega Dynamic Vintage Mens Large 39mm Cal. 565 Watch with Blue Vignette Dial - Stainless Steel

Created in 1967 by Omega's sales director Robert Forster, the Dynamic is an iconic example of a true retro style. The clean and functional watch, a considerable success for Omega, possessed a number of designed elements that made it stand out: An ellipse shape with recessed crown determined to be the best geometric shape for the wrist, determined after extensive study Unicoc case with hermetically sealed crystal water-resistant to a depth of 30m. Available with a stainless steel bracelet or easily interchangeable water-resistant Cor-fam straps According to an Omega advertisement at the time, "The shape of the Omega Dynamic was determined by the anatomy of your wrist; its dial by the workings of your eyes; it strap by the physiology of your skin." We are pleased to offer this uncommon and extra large model, ref. 166.081, from the first generation Dynamic line. It has a beautiful blue vignette crosshair dial with "wide boy" retro styled indices. From our experience it is the most uncommon reference in the early Dynamic line and was only branded "Geneve", although period advertisements show it was sold under the "Geneve Dynamic" line. It is the only non-oval Dynamic case in the early line and like all other Dynamics uses the same interchangeable strap or bracelet design. At over 39mm in diameter not including the crown, this big fellow fills out even a full size wrist. As one of the early Dynamics, before Omega switches to using the 1000 series movements for the line, it is powered by Omega's high-grade caliber 565. Omega's top-tier caliber 565 movement, one of the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs, was the top-tier offering of the 500 series. It has 24 jewels and a quick-setting date and is arguably the finest mass-produced automatic movement from era. It has all of its original parts and has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It presents in gorgeous condition. Its steel case presents as mint with strong lines. On the wrist it presents as gorgeous mint. Its original Omega dial has been meticulously refinished - its printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye. Its original Omega band shows only light wear and still has its original Omega buckle. And its fine, automatic Omega has just been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. It is running extremely strong and true, keeping time on par with a new Omega in our testing recording position. Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance. A more than fifty year old Dynamic that presents like new on the wrist! Please note: An example of this watch resides in the Omega museum, and a published example can be found in Marco Richon's work Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 483.
