Info The Omega Speedmaster Mark III (reference 176.002) is an automatic chronograph watch introduced by Omega in 1971, representing a significant evolution in the Speedmaster line. This model was the first in the series to feature an automatic chronograph movement, developed in collaboration with Lemania, known as the Omega 1040 caliber (gold-plated) or Lemania 1341.
The stainless steel case measures 41mm in diameter, 52mm in length, and 17mm in thickness, giving the watch a notable presence on the wrist. The “anatomical” design was created to fit comfortably on the wrist, although the substantial dimensions may feel challenging for those who prefer smaller watches.
The dial, available in various colors including black, features sub-dials for counting the minutes and hours of the chronograph, with a date window positioned at 3 o’clock.
The Omega 1040 movement is an automatic chronograph caliber with a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. This movement was also used in the Omega Speedmaster 125, a limited edition model produced to celebrate Omega’s 125th anniversary.
The Omega 1162 bracelet with 172 end links, original to the model, is made of satin-finished stainless steel and features a deployant clasp, perfectly matching the case and ensuring comfort and security on the wrist.
In summary, the Omega Speedmaster Mark III 176.002 is a vintage timepiece of great interest to watch enthusiasts, thanks to its distinctive design, automatic chronograph movement, and its historical significance within the Speedmaster line.
The watch we are offering is in fair condition; we invite you to refer to the description and photos in the listing for exact details. Recently serviced at an authorized Omega service center, it is shipped with a 2-year warranty on the movement, starting from the date of purchase, issued by the same Omega center that performed the service. After the service, the certified Omega technician conducted rigorous quality control, ensuring that the timepiece meets the highest standards of functionality and accuracy.
Case, Bracelet, Dial & Glass The unpolished case shows typical signs of wear from time and use, giving the piece an authentic vintage character.
The original Omega satin-finished steel bracelet, also unpolished, composed of 20 links, is in excellent condition. Although it shows some minor visible signs of wear, they do not affect the integrity or aesthetics of the bracelet. It fits wrists up to approximately 18.5 cm in circumference and shows minimal stretch, ensuring a perfect fit.
The original black dial is in good condition, with signs of wear due to age and small signs of past moisture infiltration, which actually enhance its beauty. The Omega technician advised against replacing the dial, as doing so would decrease the value and make the watch non-original. This small imperfection, along with the tritium lume on the indices and hands, which has developed a dark patina, further enhances the vintage look of the watch.
The crystal, despite showing some visible scratches, is in good condition and does not compromise the legibility of the dial, which remains perfectly clear.
Accessories & Warranty The set includes: generic inner and outer boxes (not original Omega), warranty certificate from the authorized Omega service center, and our certificate of authenticity and legal provenance.
The warranty from the authorized Omega service center covers the movement for 2 years from the date of purchase, offering protection against any mechanical defects not caused by negligence or accidental damage by the customer.
