Description
In the spring of 1996, Patek Philippe introduced and patented the reference 5035, its first Annual Calendar watch. Even though the collection has evolved with the addition of new models and the combination of the Annual Calendar function with other complications, the reference 5035 has been a remarkable success for nearly three decades. This Patek Philippe 5035R-016 features a 37mm rose gold case with a stepped bezel and a black dial with rose gold Roman numerals applied for a great contrast. The sapphire crystal display case back reveals the automatic Caliber 315/198, which grants approximately 40 to 45 hours of power reserve. This timepiece is in fine shape, comes with the Patek Philippe box and papers dated 1999, and is covered by a one-year warranty from Twain Time. --> SPECIFICATIONS Brand: Patek Philippe Model: Annual Calendar Reference Number: 5035R-016 Movement: Automatic Gender: Men's Condition: Mint Time Period: 1999 Box: Yes Paper: Yes THE CALIBER Caliber: 315 S QA 24 H Jewels: 35 THE CASE Case Material: 18K rose gold Case Diameter: 37 mm Thickness: 11 mm Waterproof: 80 ft./ 25 m./ 2.5 ATM Bezel Material: Fixed 18K rose gold Glass: Sapphire Crystal Caseback: Open display back Dial: Black Dial Numerals: Raised 18K rose gold applied and luminous Roman numeral hour indices, railroad minute chapter around the outer rim THE BRACELET / STRAP Bracelet Material: Brown Leather Buckle: Tang Buckle Material: 18K rose gold THE FUNCTIONS Annual calendar, hours, minutes, seconds, day sub-dial indicator at 10 o'clock, 24-hour (day/night) indicator at 6 o'clock, date aperture at 6 o'clock, month sub-dial indicator at 2 o'clock --> FURTHER READING Round-shaped case 18K rose gold with luminous insert leaf-shaped hour/minute hands and sub-dials hands, blackened stick shape center sweep seconds hand Screw-down sapphire crystal display case back 18K rose gold pull/push crown with Calatrava cross engraving Original Patek Philippe strap and tang buckle This automatic caliber 315 movement is rhodium-plated with fausses côtes decoration and the stamp of the Seal of Geneva quality mark. It is constructed with 316 parts and contains a straight-line lever escapement, a shock absorber mechanism, and a 21K gold rotor. The mechanism oscillates at 21,600 vph (3Hz). It has a self-compensating, free-sprung balance spring and a patented Patek Gyromax balance spring that compensates for cold, heat, isochronism, and five positions. Three correction push-pieces to adjust the calendar indications: Month correction at 2 o'clock, date correction at 4 o'clock, and day of week correction at 10 o'clock . The dial, case, and movement are all signed. This Annual Calendar mechanism distinguishes between months of 30 and 31 days. The ingenious mechanism is entirely rotary, without the uneven movements of cams and springs in the conventional perpetual calendar. Patek Philippe produced this model from 1996 to 2005 and was named "Watch of the Year" in 1996; the watch was a phenomenal success in Switzerland. In addition to its aesthetic and technical qualities, the Annual Calendar featured a complication deemed "useful," simple to operate, and brand new to the watchmaking industry.
