Launched in 1968 the Golden Ellipse collection marked a significant shift for Patek as they embraced the constantly changing world that was the 1960's. With the dawn quartz technology on its way, Patek sought a watch that was both unisex in its design and also immediately 'Patek' in its aesthetic. With that design brief, Patek debuted the Golden Ellipse to immediate success as a result of its novel and forward-thinking design and luxurious construction. Made from 18k white gold and powered by a manual-wind movement, the ref. 3567 celebrated classical watchmaking's techniques while also retaining a forward-thinking design in the form of its thin rounded rectangle-shaped case and integrated bracelet, both of which, like its blue dial, feature a hand-hammered technique that cover the entirety of the watch, showcasing some impressive watchmaking craftsmanship considering it was the 1970s. With its lug-less design, and elegant unisex proportions, the ref. 3567 follows the success of the Ellipses that came before it and has since proven to be as successful as its sibling Ellipse references, all which has lead to the collection remaining within Patek's catalog to this day. THE DIAL Featuring the same hand-hammered texture as its case and bracelet, this ref. 3567's bluedial is incredibly unique. Making this example's dial all the more special, however, is the way the dial has aged, making it a unique example of this iconic reference. THE CONSTRUCTION Made of 18kt white gold and featuring an 18kt white gold bracelet that sports the same hand-hammered texture throughout, the ref. 3567 is inherently a luxurious timepiece that wowed collectors in the 1970s.
