Reminiscent of Cartier’s Tank, this art deco-inspired Gondolo harks back to one of the brand’s golden eras—between 1925 and 1945—when rectangular watches were far more common. The name Gondolo itself stems from a famous Brazilian jewellery retailer by the same name with whom the brand enjoyed a successful business relationship between 1872 and 1927. Though the collection is not as well known as the brand’s equally dressy Calatrava line, it offers customers less conventional case shapes, with other Gondolos coming in trapezoid, tonneau and hexagonal styles. This discontinued version in 18k white gold was launched in 2015 and features a distinctive stepped case with recessed crown and deep-blue dial with applied hour markers.
