Chronograph Perpetual Calendar ref. 3971/E J in yellow gold, circa 1987 Patek Philippe

--> Description Chronograph Perpetual Calendar ref. 3971/E J in yellow gold, circa 1987 Patek Philippe Brand: Patek Philippe Model: Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Moonphase Year: circa 1987 Reference: 3971/E Dial: Silvered Case No.: 2.851.xxx Movement: Manual winding Movement N°: 875.xxx Cal: CH27-70Q Material: 18k yellow gold Strap: Leather with original gold buckle Size: 37 mm Accessories: Box and guarantee --> More information First released in 1986 as a replacement for reference 2499, the Patek Philippe reference 3971 (together with ref 3970) is a kind of ‘trait d'union’ between the company's vintage and modern production. Aesthetically, it bears many similarities to its predecessor such as the pump pushers and turned step lugs. The movement, however, has significant technical updates compared to that of ref. 2499, abandoning the Valjoux ébauche for a modified Nouvelle Lemania. The model also provides information on the leap year and day/night cycles, which are extremely useful when setting the watch. This model belongs to the Reference 3971, which, unlike the better-known Reference 3970, is equipped with a visible screw-down caseback that allows one to admire the meticulously finished calibre. Remained in production for only about five years before being absorbed into the general 3970 line, the reference 3971, is one of the rarest and most sought after by any Patek Philippe collector. This watch is also accompanied by its original box and guarantee, making it even more rare and sought-after.
