BRAND: Record MODEL: Military CASE MATERIAL: Chrome-plated steel CASE MEASURES: 36.5 x 47 mm MOVEMENT: Manual FUNCTIONS: Time and subsidiary seconds CONDITION: Keeps time See it in our eBay store. A vintage Record military watch in chrome-plated steel, crafted 1944-1945. The British military arranged for the 12 top Swiss watchmakers of the time to manufacture wristwatches for their soldiers, and the Record model we have to offer is considered part of this “Dirty Dozen”. Identifiable by the black dial with luminous Arabic numerals and lume plots, small seconds at 6 o’clock, outer railroad-style minute track, and luminous (sword-shaped) hands. Stamped W.W.W. on case back, acronym for “Watch. Wrist. Waterproof” and the Broad Arrow symbol. Fixed tapered lugs, large grooved crown and 12 mm thick profile. Paired with a blue and grey striped nato-style strap, this Record would make a neat addition to a vintage lover’s collection. Watch runs strong, it keeps time. We do not know of its service history. Lume hands and round dots may have been previously restored. Nicks and dents are present. 12 mm thick case. Case back stamped W.W.W. Case# 5325xx #L147xx Record cal. 022K, 15 jewels hand wind movement. Acrylic crystal. Blue and grey striped nato-style strap (light worn). 18 mm lug width. Modeled on 6 inch wrist.
