The Cellini line, named after the Italian Renaissance artist Benvenuto Cellini, was conceived by Rolex as a counterpart to its professional tool watches, emphasizing elegant aesthetics and traditional watchmaking over waterproofness or sport functionality. Unlike the Oyster-cased models, the Cellini collection prioritized slim profiles, precious metals, and classic styling. This Cellini model has a solid 18kt gold rectangular tank- style case, measuring 22.5 mm in width, excluding the original signed crown, and 29 mm in height (lugs included). The case shows most of its original finish and it seems not to have been polished, it has only light traces of use, the gold hallmark on the case-side is still sharp and well visible The case shows clean architectural lines, underscoring a geometric and essential design. A flat sapphire crystal, free from scratches, covers the dial. The original bronze-tone dial has a7 pleasant uniform tone, showing a very light and subtle spiderweb texture. Over time, the dial has developed a slightly more intense bronze hue, a characteristic form of “tropicalization” appreciated by collectors. The minimalist layout is fully legible, with clean stick sandblasted hands and no numerals or markers. This watch houses the manual-wind Rolex Caliber 1600, a movement developed in the 1960s and used in several Cellini models. The 1600 is a slim, manually wound movement known for its reliability and with Rolex`s usual impeccable quality, with a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The watch is presented on a crocodile strap in good condition, complete with its original gold- plated Rolex buckle. It has been serviced in-house and runs well.
