Description

ROLEX QUEEN MIDAS 3585 CORAL DIAL GREEN KHANJAR LIKE NEW

Stemming from Rolex’s acceptance of the idea that some of their customers would like to own a second watch, the Rolex Cellini collection is perhaps one of the brands most widely varied collections, with round leather strapped dress watches to oval shaped pieces of distilled excellence and even integrated bracelet watches like the Queen Midas ref. 3585 that we have here, the collection is varied and rich with diversity. Launched in the 1960s, Rolex approached a young Gerald Genta to design a gold watch fit for royalty. Inspired by Athens’ Parthenon temple, Genta designed the King Midas, which birthed its own Midas collection, with the original King Midas boasting an asymmetrical pentagon-shaped case with a left-handed crown arrangement and a minimalist integrated bracelet. As well as that watch, the Midas collection also featured the Queen Midas ref. 3585 that we have here. Made of 18kt yellow gold and boasting the same integrated bracelet design, it boasts a symmetrical rectangular case construction in lieu of an asymmetrical shape and thus giving it a more understated presence on the wrist. However, the 3585 does indeed still pack a heavy punch of luxury on account of its heavy construction. Compounding upon this, the example we have here also boasts an incredibly rare bright orange coral dial. Rare by itself, this coral dial also a green Khanjar dagger at 6 o’clock, which designates it as a timepiece that was ordered by the Sultanate of Oman and either added to the Sultan’s personal collection or gifted to a foreign dignitary, diplomat, family friend or someone else of high esteem. On top of that, this example's coral dial also boasts a Khanjar dagger that designates this example as a watch that was ordered from Rolex by the Sultanate of Oman to either be added to the Royal collection or gifted to a foreign dignitary, a family friend, a diplomat or someone else held in rather high esteem. THE CONSTRUCTION With its 18kt yellow gold construction boasting a subtle patina across its yellow gold surfaces, this Queen Midas shows a unique character that pairs beautifully with its bright orange dial.
