The Watch: The Rolex Cellini Prince Ref. 5443 is a modern revival of the original 1928 Prince, one of Rolex’s most iconic Art Deco creations. Produced from 2005 to 2014, this 28mm x 46.7mm dress watch blends vintage elegance with contemporary craftsmanship. Its 9.5mm-thin white gold case, made from Rolex’s signature gray gold, exudes understated luxury and doesn’t need rhodium plating, so scratches reveal the same lustrous finish beneath.
The dial is where the Art Deco inspiration truly shines. A silver, red, and black sunburst design radiates across both the main and sub-seconds dials, framed by tri-Arabic numerals, polished dauphine hands, and white gold nameplates. It’s distinctive, bold, and unmistakably Prince. On the wrist, the watch is slim enough to disappear under a cuff but has the presence to stand out when the occasion calls for it.
Powering the Prince is Rolex’s manual-winding caliber 7040-4, offering a 70-hour power reserve and visible through the display caseback—a first for Rolex with this model. The movement’s sunburst engraving across its bridges mirrors the dial’s design, while details like beveled edges, polished teeth, and satin-brushed wheels elevate it past its sports watch roots.
