Folding clasp no. 19519., When collectors think of blue stone dial Rolex watches, they mostly only consider the lapis lazuli, which is incredibly sought-after. Lapis dials can be found mainly on Day-Dates, but also on Datejusts, Submariners, Midas’ and on older cocktail watches. There are, however, much fewer to be found fitted with sodalite dials. Just like lapis lazuli, sodalite is a half-precious stone. The dials are unique, as each dial is made from a different cut and is thus not something that can merely be mass-produced. The sodalite differs from lapis lazuli in that it may be slightly translucent. Sodalite has veins, whereas lapis lazuli has freckles. And most obviously, the sodalite is lighter in colour.
