Model Daytona Reference 6265 Case Material Stainless steel Bracelet Material Stainless steel Rolex bracelet, approximate length 195mm Year 1978 Movement Manual, cal. 727, 17 jewels Case N° 5'527'957 Dimensions 37mm Diameter Signed Dial, Movement and Case In 1969, Rolex made a notable advancement in its Daytona series with the introduction, two years later, of the references 6263 and 6265, marking a significant milestone in the Daytona collection. These models were the first in the Daytona series to feature the word “Oyster” on the dial and introduced innovative screw-down pushers. They housed the caliber 727, an evolution of the Valjoux caliber 72. The highlighted lot is an extremely rare reference 6265: the stainless steel case, complemented by a striking Oyster bracelet, showcases sharp lugs, a satin finish, and an overall state of preservation that is remarkable. The dial of this Rolex Daytona 6265 is exceptional. The “Big Red” Daytona inscription at the center of the dial adds a unique touch but it’s not finished yet. This particular example of the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 6265 is exceptionally rare, not only due to its great condition and striking black dial with white subsidiary dials but mainly because of its important Tiffany & Co. signature at 12 o’clock. The presence of the Tiffany & Co. signature adds a prestigious and highly sought-after element to the watch, reflecting the luxury and exclusivity associated with the American jeweler. Given the recent surge in demand for Tiffany & Co.-signed timepieces, this ref. 6265 stands out as a particularly desirable piece, sure to impress discerning collectors and aficionados of vintage Rolex watches.
