It was produced and marketed from 1967 by Seiko offering an alternative to the Vulcain Crickett and Jaeger Lecoultre Memovox. Unfortunately Seiko did not market spare parts to meet the demand for maintenance and repair of the Bell Matic. For many owners, the alternative was to buy a watch and take the parts they needed. So today we find on the market many Bell Matic that are Franken: watches made up of different watch parts. So it's hard to find one that's completely original. I am honored to present this magnificent 1968 steel watch, one of the first Bell Matic watches, "matching numbers" and in perfect working order. This watch boasts many advantages: - With the commercial reference 4006-7000, it is one of the first watches produced. - It was therefore the 27-jewel movement that equipped these first generations rather than the 17 that succeeded it. - If you look at other Bell Matic watches for sale, you can observe that this one is "matching numbers": the dial number (7000) corresponds to the case number (7000). - It was serviced in June 2024 (I don't have the receipt, but the previous owner took care of it): it starts as soon as you shake it gently (no need to shake it for several seconds), the hands turn smoothly, and the famous chiming system works perfectly (I can send a video to demonstrate it). - As you can see when you open the cover, the movement is clean: no grease marks, no dirt, and no dents. - Aesthetically speaking, there are a few snags on the case, a few barely visible marks on the dial, the plexiglass is very clean. The hands are a little faded. I installed a new strap for the sale. Other than this strap, I believe the rest is original. For vintage watch enthusiasts, you have the opportunity to acquire a watch appreciated by collectors and whose value will continue to increase in the coming years. With its "bell" it benefits from a rare complication that few brands were able to offer, especially at affordable prices, before the advent of quartz watches.
