The most sought-after and interesting is the “Monte Carlo.” Nicknamed “Monte Carlo” by enthusiasts because of the dials that resemble the roulette disc in casinos. As children of the 1970s, these early chronographs were designed in keeping with the slightly psychedelic feel that was occurring at the time: bold shapes, massive cases, graphic lines and bright colors were the main inspirations. The 7100 series chronographs retain the case of their predecessors and the spirit of the related dial with painted markers though with different graphics, but change the movement. In place of the Valjoux Caliber 7734, now animating TUDOR chronographs is the hand-wound Valjoux 234. This new movement offers greater precision thanks to a higher frequency, 21,600 vibrations per hour versus the previous 18,000, and has a more sophisticated chronograph mechanism with a clutch and column wheel. Reference 7159/0 with a satin-finished steel bezel and engraved tachymeter scale replaces reference 7032/0. This watch is beloved by collectors as one of the most creative and design-oriented vintage chronographs ever produced. As a result, we see fewer and fewer of them on the market as beloved collectors hold on to them. In addition to the genuine condition, the highlight of this watch are the millerighe buttons, which alone are worth almost as much as the whole watch.
