Description
The watch is in overall excellent condition. Dial is in very good condition. Watch is intact. Mechanism is not working. Hamilton Tigers Hockey Team 14k Gold Presentation Watch 1920. The Hamilton Tigers, one of the oldest teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), were a professional ice hockey team based in Hamilton, Ontario. They were founded in 1920 and competed in the National Hockey League from 1920 to 1925. Despite finishing first in the league in the 1924-1925 season, a player's strike before the playoffs resulted in the dissolution of the team. This 14K gold Zenith, 17 jewel pocket watch was presented to W. E Knapman in 1920 from the Hamilton Tigers hockey team "In appreciation of service" (as inscribed on the inside of the case). It is a striking presentation example that would have been given to Knapman following the first season of play, in appreciation for his service as a supporting member of the team. It is unknown what role Knapman had with the team, but he was not a player.
