Sold as is, case with the warranty hallmarks clearly visible under the lug and the edge of the caseband, rare dial variant called "Sector Dial", a period pin buckle, movement works but requires a regular overhaul, no warranty. This watch discovered in an estate inventory is a rare example in the family of the very first wrist chronographs produced by the Patek Philippe manufacture, especially if we observe this particular iconography of the dial called "Sector Dial". This "anglicism" characterizes these dials with typically Art Deco lines, they are most often composed of two tones, one shiny in the center and the other matte interspersed and on the edge, which gives a very particular appearance providing great readability of the information (tachometer, railway timer). This model belongs to the family of the reference 130 produced from 1934, it is part of the first productions of wrist chronographs at Patek Philippe; the design of its case is inspired by the famous "Calatrava" under the reference 96 which is the very first reference to leave the workshops from 1932, a design inspired by the lines of the Bauhaus. The manufacture of this dial called "Sector Dial" is truly a distinctive sign of the watchmaking art at Patek Philippe in the Art Deco years, which can be explained among other things by the fact that the Stern Family, which took over the controls of the factory in 1932, was originally a dial manufacturer in Geneva under the name of "Stern Frères". From this family heritage of "dial maker" at the beginning of the century, the Stern family has always taken particular care in the art of dial manufacturing and this example is one more opportunity to fully understand the watchmaking art that has made Patek Philippe prestigious since its origins. Our example is one of the rare pieces produced by Patek Philippe with the dial called "Sector Dial", few examples have survived to this day in this state of conservation, it is a rare opportunity for a collector looking for three essential criteria for a watch: quality, rarity and provenance. A quick nod to the date it was sold, December 24, 1937, so we can imagine that this watch was offered as a Christmas present and it remained in the hands of the descendants of the first owner and carefully preserved thereafter, before its discovery by the house of l'Huillier in Paris.
